‘The View’ co-host Sunny Hostin was forced to read a legal disclaimer about Matt Gaetz. The legal note was regarding accusations towards Gaetz, accusing him of sleeping with a 17-year-old girl and participating in trafficking. However, the things Sunny Hostin might have said about Gaetz were over the top and likely false, which is why she had to read the legal note.
It appears the multi-year investigation into Matt Gaetz showed no evidence of him doing anything wrong. Sunny Hostin, during a conversation about Matt Gaetz and his potential to be attorney general, said during the episode in question: “How could you nominate someone with allegations of child trafficking or trafficking across state lines and having sex with a 17-year-old?… My understanding, further on in the interview, they discuss the fact that once he finds out that she’s 17, he stops having sex with her.”
A few minutes after Hostin said this, Whoopi Goldberg told her a ‘legal note’ arrived for her. Then Sunny Hostin read the legal note that defies what she previously said about Gaetz: “Matt Gaetz has long denied all allegations… calling the claims ‘invented’ and saying in a statement to ABC News that, ‘This false smear following a three-year criminal investigation should be viewed with great skepticism” and “That DOJ investigation was closed with no charges being brought.”
Oh snap. Gaetz denied allegations and the DOJ ended their investigation in 2023. No criminal charges were filed against Matt Gaetz.
