Boxer Imane Khelif received votes for the Associated Press’s Female Athlete of the Year. Khelif received four votes, placing it in third place behind Caitlin Clark (35 votes) and Simone Biles (25 votes). Khelif’s inclusion in the voting sparked quite a bit of controversy due to its gender eligibility issues during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
