Actress Cynthia Erivo found a way make ‘Wicked’ look even worse. She said, “as a black queer woman, I’m the perfect one to play the witch.” Many people, like myself, might be wondering what black and queer have to do with being a witch.
I thought a witch was just someone who casts spells and they could be evil or good. I didn’t know that being black or queer was a prerequisite for being a witch. I thought you just had to be female. Women are witches, men are wizards, and they both cast spells and wave wands around.
Does Cynthia Erivo know she’s just making things worse for Wicked? Are they trying to make that movie be a complete disaster? I don’t know, but the more I see Erivo and Ariana Grande talk about Wicked, the less I want to see it. I am at an even 0% right now. Anymore videos like the one below, and they’ll make it a negative chance of me seeing this movie.
