(Crankers) The World’s Strongest Woman competition has been pretty much ruined by this scandal after competitor Jammie Booker won the title, then had it revoked once judges realized Booker was born a male.
Booker was stripped of the 2025 World’s Strongest Woman title after event organizers determined that Booker was not eligible to compete in the women’s division under the competition’s rules.
Booker originally won the title at the Official Strongman Games event, finishing one point ahead of British competitor Andrea Thompson.
Shortly after the results were announced, event officials launched an internal review when past video footage surfaced indicating that Booker was biologically male and identified as a transgender woman. Organizers said they had no idea he was a male.
In a statement, the Official Strongman Games said the competition’s Women’s Open category is reserved for athletes “assigned female at birth,” and that Booker would not have been allowed to compete had officials known this information beforehand. They added that Booker “did not meet the eligibility criteria” and that the results had been corrected accordingly, with Andrea Thompson now recognized as the rightful winner.
Booker has not publicly commented on the disqualification. Organizers said their attempts to contact Booker after the ruling have gone unanswered.
The decision has drawn significant attention within the strength-sports community, renewing broader debates over transgender participation in women’s athletic divisions and the verification standards used by sports organizations. The Official Strongman Games emphasized that they will be reviewing their vetting procedures to ensure future compliance with category requirements.
Andrea Thompson, now officially the 2025 World’s Strongest Woman, has not issued a formal statement beyond acknowledging the updated results.
