(Crankers.com) Kyle Schwarber just dinged his 50th homerun of the season in a 9-3 victory over the visiting New York Mets.
Schwarber is the second Phillies player to hit 50 home runs in a season. Ryan Howard hit 58 home runs in 2006.
The Phillies have 17 games left in September, giving the Schwarbomb plenty of time to catch up to Ryan Howard’s Phillies record.
Historic Phillies 3rd baseman Mike Schmidt still leads the Phillies in home runs all-time, hitting 548 over his career.
Ryan Howard ranks second, with 382 home runs.
Del Ennis is third, with 259 home runs.
Pat Burrel ranks fourth, with 243 homers.
Fifth place is Chuck Klein, with 243 home runs.
Schwarber is way down on the list at rank 13, as he didn’t break the 200 mark yet for the Phillies.
