(Crankers) UPDATE: YouTube says the video was fake and they took down the account because of the impersonation rules. People were prepared to go down a rabbit hole, but instead were tricked by some online pranksters.

This video was allegedly scheduled ahead of time and posted by Luigi Mangione, called ‘The Truth’ and posted on YouTube, but it turned out to be fake according to a statement by YouTube.

As you know by now, Luigi Mangione is the suspect arrested and charged with allegedly murdering the UnitedHealthcare CEO. There’s been so much going on with this news that it’s hard to keep up with. Tons of speculation, theories, and otherwise.

Either way, Gizmodo was able to contact YouTube and get a statement from them. Gizmodo reported on the fake video titled ‘The Truth’ and not by Luigi Mangione:

The account was created back in January 2024, and it’s entirely possible for someone to set up a kind of dead man’s switch—they schedule a video to publish at some future time, intending to stop the auto-publish if they have not been arrested (or killed, or whatever the scenario might be). But YouTube confirmed to Gizmodo that it wasn’t real.

“We terminated the channel in question for violating our policies covering impersonation, which prohibit content intended to impersonate another person on YouTube,” a spokesperson for the video platform told Gizmodo over email Monday.

I first saw this cryptic Luigi Mangione video on X, mentioned by a user named @TheJokersSmile_, who posted a screenshot of it before YouTube allegedly deleted it. I managed to find another copy of the video and quickly downloaded it to share with others. Again, we are unable to confirm if this is really from Luigi Mangione, or if someone made it and posted it to an account using Luigi’s name.

With that said, here’s ‘The Truth’ video that was rumored to be by Luigi Mangione, but YouTube says it was an imposter and not by the murder suspect:
