(Crankers) Just imagine you’re scrolling social media and see a fake news story saying Elon Musk melted the Statue of Liberty. I’d have to fall over wheezing from laughing so hard. Not only is it fake, but completely wacko in the funniest way possible.
Yeah, just imagine Elon standing there with an electric grill on top of a Cyber Truck, turning up the heat, then melting the Statue of Liberty into the Hudson. Completely not possible, exactly.
To make this story even funnier than the people who fell for it, Elon Musk saw the headline and he made some jokes about it. Here’s a few of them!

We gotta get community notes over here so Elon can get fact checked about being fact checked.

Seriously, who comes up with this stuff? I mean, Elon with a grill? Next, they’ll say he’s gonna fly the Eiffel Tower to Mars. Spicy content, Frank, keep it coming haha.
Just when I thought my Tesla stock was gonna rise, Elon decides to melt historic monuments lol. Any chance we can melt my student loans next?
I can’t help but wonder, do people actually believe these stories? It’s funny and alarming at the same time.
And here we are, laughing at the absurd, while real news goes unnoticed. The irony of our times, distilled into one fake headline.
Next up, Elon invents a time machine to go back and sign the Declaration of Independence. Can’t wait.
While the concept of Elon Musk melting the Statue of Liberty is humorous, it opens a dialogue about the spread of disinformation online.
