Shelley Luther probably did not expect this. She is the owner of Salon A La Mode and she opened her business despite Texas state orders to keep her non-essential business closed until further notice.
She wanted to make a point and opened anyway, for about seven days. She was then taken to court and offered the chance to apologize and remain closed until Friday, or face jail and a $7,000 fine. She refused to apologize and took the jail and fine.
But now that $7,000 seems like a drop in the bucket after a Go Fund Me has raised over $140,000 for her, something most people did not expect to happen. It just sort of came out of nowhere and the support poured in like a waterfall.
The Go Fund Me can be seen here and the donations were rapidly rising as I wrote this. UPDATE!! SHE IS OVER $490,000 now! WOW!!!
It appears to be organized by Mike Hire, who wrote:
Shelley Luther is an American Hero that has decided to resist tyranny by opening her business against an unlawful State Executive Order. Her business, SALON A LA MODE offers services for hair and nails, microblading, permanent makeup, professional event makeup, braiding and more! Shelley and her team will likely face legal action, fines, and more during her journey back to freedom. She is doing what everyone else is only talking about, in a patriotic move to take back her liberty! Please support Shelley, and her employees by contributing to this worthy cause. You will not just be supporting Shelley, but you will be supporting the idea that our founders put in writing in the Constitution. 100% of all donations will go directly to Shelley Luther.
Keep in mind that at the time of this article, the donation amount was just over $140,000. It will likely be much higher by the time most people read this.
