What happened with Donald Trump and ABC News? ABC News agreed to pay $15 million to settle a defamation lawsuit filed by President-elect Donald Trump. The lawsuit stemmed from an on-air statement by ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos, who inaccurately claimed that Trump had been found liable for rape. The settlement includes a $15 million contribution to Trump’s presidential foundation and museum, as well as $1 million in legal fees.
The settlement also requires ABC News to publish an editor’s note expressing regret for the statements made during the March 10, 2024, segment.
