Lavish seafood spread at Mar-a-Lago sparks debate amid SNAP battle

(Crankers) When you see this lavish seafood spread, but your gout tells you no, and your lack of SNAP benefits tells you yes – then you must be in Mar-a-Lago!

President Donald Trump is being criticized for hosting a party that included a bunch of shrimp and stone crab claws that are somewhat expensive as the government shutdown puts SNAP benefits at risk.

Democrats on social media are pushing a narrative that millions of kids are starving while people eat crab claws in Florida.

Republicans are responding by saying things like “you know parties existed before” and “tell the Democrats to open the government.”

Either way, both parties and a government battle can exist at once. Even if they canceled this party and spent the money on SNAP benefits, it wouldn’t go that far and it wouldn’t push negotiations one way or the other as the Republicans and Democrats fight over things during the government shutdown.

Seeing so many people post ridiculous statements about these crab claws and SNAP might lead to people being confused one way or the other about what’s really going on. So it’s important for people to be aware of the facts with the SNAP benefits and if they’re canceled or not.

The federal government has not completely cut off SNAP, but benefits have been reduced for many. A federal court ordered full November payments to be issued, averting a complete cutoff at that time. However, a combination of factors is leading to cuts, including the end of pandemic-era emergency allotments and new, stricter work requirements that took effect in September.

Check out the video of the seafood at Mar-a-Lago and ask yourself this – do you really care if they have seafood there? They have it at restaurants too, are we getting mad at them as well?
