(Crankers) Andy Taylor, the guitarist for Duran Duran, has revealed he is battling cancer. Taylor said that he got his stage 4 prostate cancer diagnosis four years ago. Taylor, 61, was unable to attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in person due to health complications. However, during the induction ceremony, his bandmates read a portion of his acceptance speech.

Taylor wrote expressed his gratitude for the exceptional accolade and explained that his body is going through a lot because of the illness, as well as his family, reported Guitar.com. The star explained that his condition is not life-threatening, but it is incurable. The guitarist noted that he had been doing okay for a long time, but he suffered a setback a couple of days ago. He wasn’t ready to push his physical and mental boundaries.

Taylor’s whole letter was uploaded on the Duran Duran website. Andrew Arthur Taylor is most known for being a part of the bands Duran Duran and the Power Station. As a guitarist, songwriter, and record producer, he has worked with artists like Robert Palmer, the Almighty, Thunder, Rod Stewart, Love and Money, Paul Rodgers (with The Law), Belinda Carlisle, Gun, and many others. He has also recorded and performed as a solo artist.

Taylor’s autobiography, Wild Boy: My Life in Duran Duran, was published in 2008 and details his life’s journey from his upbringing in a large family to his current relationship with his wife, Tracey. The book seeks to provide a behind-the-scenes look at the rise of Duran Duran, a survey of the band’s discography album by album, as well as an overview of Taylor’s solo and collaborative projects.

Taylor has been married to his wife, Tracey, for 40 years. They have four kids together. Currently, the couple resides in Ibiza, Spain.
