(Crankers) An employee claims they secretly recorded the VP of Campbell Soup and you’re gonna probably vomit after you read this.
And let’s just say this comes after all these years of Chunky Soup commercials, all the years of eating chicken noodle when the kids are sick, and all the years of supporting what we thought was a nice little soup brand and now this… ugh.
The employee’s name is Robert Garza and he claims the vice president was caught on camera saying quite a few really bad things about the company. One of them was how Garza won’t eat the products because it’s pretty much unhealthy.
The Vice President of the company, Martin Bally, is the reason Garza was fired. Garza complained about the VP and found himself without a job.
I guess it’s a good thing Garza had the recordings of the VP saying the horrible things about the company!
Click On Detroit had the scoop:
“He has no filter,” Garza said. “He thinks he’s a C-level executive at a Fortune 500 company and he can do whatever he wants because he’s an executive.”
Garza said he recorded an hour-long rant by the top Campbell Soup Company executive because he said he trusted his “instinct that something wasn’t right with Martin,” when he went to meet with him to discuss his salary. Instead, he said he sat at a restaurant and listened to an explosive, hour-long tirade. He recorded all of it.
My gosh, I guess putting on a suit or tie for the VP got his ego up way too high, but was it higher than that sodium level in their food?
Garza is suing the company for racist remarks, drug use, and retaliation after he tried to report the other things.
But what else did the VP allegedly say? Well, Bally allegedly called the Campbell’s products “highly processed food” for “poor people” who are “idiots.” But then it got better – or worse – depending on where ya sit!
“We have sh-t for f-cking poor people. Who buys our sh-t? I don’t buy Campbell’s products barely anymore. It’s not healthy now that I know what the f-ck‘s in it,” part of the recording said. “Bioengineered meat… I don’t wanna eat a piece of chicken that came from a 3-D printer.”
How scummy is this? Chicken is so darn cheap and there is less than one bite of chicken in each can of chicken noodle soup. Why would you need to print meat when you can get real meat for literal pennies? What a scummy thing to do.
The recording lasted longer than an hour and 15 minutes and included what Garza said was a “disgusting” rant about his coworkers.
“F-cking Indians don’t know a f-cking thing,” the recording said. “Like they couldn’t think for their f-cking selves,” it said in part.
Garza said he felt sick, “pure disgust,” after the meeting, and again after hearing the rant.
This is so lame. This isn’t something you can sue for. Nor is it something you should sue for. Just stop being dumb or something, I dunno what to tell you. If your boss says you’re an idiot, then you probably are, so I’m not going to be mad at this part. Not one bit. Campbell Soup shouldn’t go down for being mean, they should go down for being scumbags who make unhealthy food.
Garza also said Bally admitted he often came to work high from marijuana edibles — another claim included in the filing.
Bro, that’s honestly just funny. You won’t even be functional if you’re too high and you’ll be laughing at the shape of the noodles in the soup.
This is a non-issue if the guy is just working in an office. He will likely screw up and get himself in trouble anyway, so no big deal on this. The unhealthy food is the only thing I care about here.
The report says Garza originally kept the recordings private, which is dumb because he could’ve blown this story up a lot sooner.
Garza’s attorney, Zachary Runyan, said Garza was blindsided 20 days later.
“He reached out to his supervisor and told the supervisor what Martin was saying, and then out of nowhere, my client was fired,” Runyan said. “He was really sticking up for other people. He went to his boss and said, ‘Martin is saying this about Indian coworkers we have, he’s saying this about people who buy our food — who keep our company open, and I don’t think that should be allowed.’ And the response to Robert sticking up for other people is he gets fired, which is ridiculous.”
Garza said the termination was shocking to understand , especially because he said Bally had praised his performance during that same meeting.
OK, seems like the guy Garza is actually just a big crybaby who was mad about the VP calling his workers idiots. The only good thing Garza did here was expose the unhealthy situation of the food, but other than that, he’s just a crybaby himself who was mad at people getting made fun of.
I’d tell Garza to get himself a safe space, not a lawsuit.
But at the end of the day, I think Garza did a good job exposing how unhealthy this food could be and thanks to guys like Garza, I won’t be buying Campbell Soup products any more.
So while Garza might be a little twit for tattling on the boss, he might have also saved us all a sodium processed food induced health issue in the long run.
So to that, I say thank you Garza, you little salty man.
