NYC officials are defending giving migrants handouts like prepaid debit cards – even if it's only some families and on a limited basis for now. Then think about the amount of money spent on housing and other things going towards dealing with the migrant crisis and Americans are starting to feel like they come last in their own country. On the contrary, one city official in the video expressed how bad and insane the migrant crisis and policies are. Just need more people like him to step up and call this out.
Bloomberg did a report in February on how the migrant spending is exploding, costing taxpayers millions, and that was over a month ago on the 13th. Imagine how those numbers look now? If you want to see just how much money was going towards migrants at the time of that report, then take a look at these numbers from Bloomberg’s political news article on migrant spending:
New York City spent $1.45 billion in fiscal 2023 on migrant costs, and expects to spend a combined $9.1 billion housing migrants in fiscal years 2024 and 2025.
Chicago spent $275 million on such services in fiscal 2023, though the city’s 2024 budget only allocated $150 million toward the effort to house undocumented new arrivals.
Denver paid approximately $46 million in fiscal 2023 for migrant support services but the city has already identified significant cost overruns related to its migrant support programs, which could contribute to an operating deficit.
Another article about Biden’s border crisis and spending problem, from Newsweek, said: “The issue is a $150.7 billion one, shared between federal and state governments, and that’s just one year.” This is just getting worse, in my opinion.
Can you imagine if our country spend those millions and billions on things that actually helped Americans? Everything from education, healthcare, homelessness, getting drug addicts off the street, stronger police forces, more training for mental health, fixing potholes in a decent amount of time – there’s so many possibilities that our money could go for that would help US first. Even worse is when some of the migrants commit a horrible crime like assaulting police officers and the criminals aren’t even deported immediately. They should be punished or deported the moment they break the law. You know who Laken Riley is, right?
But what is Joe Biden’s administration doing? They’re allowing the country to be flooded by illegal immigrants and then spending billions dealing with them. Not to make anyone mad, but wouldn’t a few one way plane tickets to send people home be a lot cheaper than housing migrants in hotels, giving them pre-paid debit cards, or kicking American kids out of their school for a night to house migrants during a storm?
I don’t know how you feel, but I think the Democratic Party has put Americans last on their list of things to care about. That’s how it feels to me. That’s what I am seeing with my own eyes. That’s what millions of Americans are thinking too. What happened to the Democrats? They weren’t this bad before…
