Pete Hegseth went OFF on the media.
Pete said, “This will NOT be a [confirmation] process tried in media. I don’t answer to ANY one in this group – none of you. Not to that camera…. I answer to President Trump, who received 76 million votes and a mandate for change. I answer to the 100 senators who are apart of this process. And I answer to my Lord and Savior, and my wife and my family.”
The media has become a complete mess over the last eight or so years. Donald Trump might have broken the media and made them more partisan in nature, with the most popular outlets turning into sensationalism clickbait machines filled with eye-popping clickbait and bad takes.

I think Pete Hegseth has a point about the media being a mess, but isn’t it a bit rich to say he answers only to Trump and not the media? Everyone is accountable to the public in some way, especially in politics.
Interesting point, SallyR94. But isn’t the media’s role to hold people like Hegseth accountable? Where do we draw the line between accountability and harassment?
Man, Hegseth tells it like it is. The media is just looking for the next big scandal. Cant trust them to tell the truth anymore.
While Pete Hegseth’s frustration with the media might resonate with some, it’s essential to remember the importance of a free press in a democracy. The media’s role is to question and critique, not to blindly follow.
it’s kinda refreshing to see someone be so upfront and unfiltered. politics these days feels so scripted.
lol, Pete’s like a real-world troll. Dude knows how to stir the pot.
Media’s gonna need some ice for that burn. Hegseth just laid down the law. Wonder if they’ll listen or just keep on their merry way of ignoring the ‘real’ truth.
I understand Hegseth’s stance, but does this approach really serve to bridge any divides? Or does it further the polarization by dismissing the media entirely?
Interesting clash between Hegseth and the media. Both sides make some valid points. It’s like watching an unstoppable force meet an immovable object. I wonder which will budge first.
An apt analogy, Geo_the_Cat. It’s a complex issue with no easy answers.
