Looks like getting Paul Pelosi getting “hammered” got someone a really long time in jail. Breaking news reports say the man behind the hammer attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband just got sentenced to 30 years in prison on federal charges. The infamous incident at the Pelosi residence in San Francisco took place back in 2022. The suspect, David DePape, was at the Pelosi residence and allegedly attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer. DePape was arrested. He was then convicted in November 2023.
DePape said he was looking for Nancy Pelosi but things didn’t go as planned. He wanted to ask her about the Russian influence that may have happened in the 2016 election. DePape wanted to allegedly hold Nancy Pelosi as a hostage and ask her questions. He only wanted to break her kneecaps if she lied, but then let her go if she told the truth. However, Paul was the person who was home, so DePape’s plan fell apart and ended up with the hammer hitting Paul Pelosi, fracturing his skull. Paul Pelosi was 82 when it happened.
DePape apologized, according to ABC News’ report. He said, “I’m sorry that he got hurt…I reacted because my plan was basically ruined.” ABC News also reported that federal prosecutors wanted DePape to get 40 years in prison because of the attempted kidnapping of a federal officer or employee, and the assault of Paul Pelosi under the situation that he’s an immediate family member of Nancy, who’s a federal official.
This doesn’t mark the end of DePape’s legal troubles. He has state trial on May 22 because he’s also facing state charges. One of those charges is attempted murder. DePape plead not guilty in the state charges.
