This is why we can’t have nice things. NYC is already a big problem ahead of New Year’s Eve this year thanks to protesters causing chaos in the Big Apple. Times Square is where the historic ball drop takes place, but it comes at a cost in terms of crowd control, security, and making sure everyone has a FUN time while being safe. However, the people protesting over the Israel-Hamas war have been causing pointless problems, with 500 protests having already taken place – and nothing changing because of the protests, which means your protests are pointless. Normal folks can’t make the changes the protesters are talking about, so there’s no point to disrupt normal folk’s lives. Go protest at the government buildings where they have power to make decisions.
The NYPD is now being tasked with preparing for the event like usual, but they may be extra busy keeping the protesters out of the fun. The NYPD is prepared to use bomb sniffing dogs, robots, drones, and any other tactics that will help keep people safe on NYE. Hopefully everything goes well and the protesters, if they’re planning anything, don’t interrupt a good time. The people who are there to have a few drinks and enjoy the ball drop really can’t do anything to help the protesters. Can we all agree on that?
I think the overall consensus is that most people support the concept of world peace and for everyone to have a great day, every day. But here we are with the NYPD preparing for extra activity that could mess up a perfectly nice New Year’s Eve celebration. So, protesters, can we chill out for a night? ABC News reported on this, saying the following in a news report:
“The variety of tools, whether robots, drones, bomb-sniffing dogs, all those things are in play,” said former NYPD deputy commissioner Richard Esposito. “They’re gonna be on alert for something different than we’ve had in the past, but they are mostly concerned that the people who go out, enjoy their night, and they want to keep the protests and the freedom of speech from interfering with other people’s freedom of enjoying themselves.”
UGH… I wish for peace and I hope everyone else does too. Here’s a recent video that shows what NYPD has to deal with.
