(Crankers) President-elect Donald Trump made a joke about Canada becoming the 51st state if alleged tariffs destroy their economy. Doocy said: “Tonight, we’re getting new details about that Trump-Trudeau dinner from two people who were at the table. We are told that when Justin Trudeau told President-elect Trump that new tariffs would kill the Canadian economy, Trump joked to him that if Canada can’t survive without ripping off the U.S. to the tune of $100 billion a year then maybe Canada should become the 51st state and Trudeau could become its governor!”
Donald Trump plans to implement a steep 25% tax on imports from Mexico and Canada. Trump talked with Justin Trudeau, but Trump never renounced his possible tariffs. Trump said the talks had been ‘productive’ but still wants tariffs if they make logical sense for the betterment of America.
Trudeau doesn’t like the idea of Trump’s tariffs, but he’ll need to make a stronger case against them for Trump to say no. Trump wants to stop illegal immigration and the flow of drugs into America, and his plan is to tax the other countries in hopes that they help slow the illegal immigration and drugs from their end too.

Has anyone stopped to think about how these tariffs might impact environmental policies between the US and Canada? I mean, Frank, it’s interesting to hear about Trump’s jokes, but what about the long-term consequences on sustainable practices?
You’ve got a point, Liam. Tariff wars often overlook the environmental angle. However, historically, strained trade relations lead to weakened environmental collaborations. Definitely something to think about.
Alright, joking aside, this whole 51st state business makes ya think. We got folks worrying about tariffs but ain’t nobody asking how this could actually tighten our grip on the betterment of North America. Both sides need to just sit down and really hash it out for the good of the people.
