Nearly Two-Thirds of Voters Support Trump’s Deportation Policy: Fox News Poll reveals

By Frank BojaziMarch 24, 2025Updated:September 1, 2025 News

A recent Fox News poll reveals that nearly two-thirds of American voters (63%) support President Donald Trump’s policy of deporting illegal immigrants, just two months into his second term. Released on Thursday, March 22, 2025, the survey assessed public sentiment on a broad spectrum of the administration’s priorities, including tax policy, foreign affairs, and cultural issues.

Topping the list of Trump’s most popular initiatives is a ban on transgender-identified athletes competing in women’s sports, backed by 68% of respondents compared to 30% opposed—a resounding more-than-2-to-1 margin. Other policies garnering strong support include designating English as the official language (66%–32%), deporting illegal migrants (63%–35%), recognizing only two genders (54%–44%), and increasing fossil fuel production (53%–44%).

However, not all of Trump’s proposals enjoy such widespread approval. Slim majorities oppose significant cuts to the federal workforce (51%–46%) and the elimination of federal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs (51%–45%). While 57% of voters view much or nearly all federal spending as wasteful, a larger portion expressed unease about how Trump might implement spending reductions. The least favored idea? His proposal to annex Greenland, which failed to resonate with respondents.

“Trump’s more flamboyant ideas about expanding U.S. territories and holdings have limited public support—so much so that one wonders if they’re just meant to stir the pot,” said Daron Shaw, a Republican pollster who co-conducted the survey with Democratic pollster Chris Anderson. “But on some of his more specific cultural and social policies, there’s substantial backing across a wide range of groups,” reported USA Journal .

Democratic commentators have struggled to reconcile their opposition to Trump’s immigration stance with its evident popularity. “The president has obviously dominated the airwaves, framing all these deportees as criminals,” PBS White House correspondent Laura Barrón-López told CNN’s Dana Bash on Friday. Notably, pre-inauguration polling aligns with these findings—a Harris poll from April 2024 showed 51% of Americans favored mass deportations.

Trump’s tariff policies, meanwhile, elicited mixed reactions depending on the target country. Since taking office, he has raised tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China, the U.S.’s three largest trading partners. A majority (55%–44%) support higher tariffs on China, viewed as America’s primary 21st-century geopolitical rival. In contrast, tariffs on Mexico garnered only 43% approval (56% opposed), while those on Canada were the least popular, with just 38% in favor and 61% against.

The president’s overall approval rating stands at -2, with 49% approving of his performance and 51% disapproving. Men are slightly more supportive (50%) than women (47%). Among racial demographics, 52% of white voters approve of Trump, compared to 44% of Hispanic voters and 29% of Black voters.

The poll underscores a divided yet engaged electorate as Trump navigates his ambitious second-term agenda, with cultural policies striking a chord and economic measures sparking debate.
