Tucker Carlson Mourns Loss of His Father, Richard Carlson, at 84

By FrankMarch 30, 2025 News

Tucker Carlson has shared the heartbreaking news of his father’s passing, announcing that Richard Warner Carlson died at the age of 84 after a six-week illness. The former Fox News host requested privacy as his family grieves, assuring his audience that he will return to his show as soon as he is able.

In a touching tribute posted on X, Carlson, 55, described his father’s final moments. “He refused all painkillers to the end and left this world with dignity and clarity, holding the hands of his children with his dogs at his feet,” he wrote. Richard Carlson’s passing comes just 16 months after the death of his wife, Patricia, a loss that deeply affected him. “He mourned her every day,” his son shared.

Carlson’s obituary detailed his father’s remarkable life story, from a tumultuous youth to an accomplished career. By 17, Richard Carlson had been arrested for grand theft auto and expelled from high school twice before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. He later worked as a sea cargo merchant before transitioning into investigative journalism, a career he pursued until being severely injured during the 1965 Watts riots in Los Angeles.

Remembering his father’s dedication to raising him and his brother, Carlson wrote, “He threw himself into raising his boys, whom he often brought with him on reporting trips. At home, he educated them during three-hour dinners on topics that ranged from the French Revolution to Bolshevik Russia, PG Wodehouse, the history of the American Indian, and, always, the eternal and unchanging nature of people.”

Richard Carlson was also a voracious reader, his son recalled, often devouring books even at stoplights. His extensive personal library reflected a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and a deep conviction in faith. “His reading and life experiences convinced him that God is real,” Tucker wrote. “He had an outlaw spirit tempered by decency.”

Carlson credited his father with shaping his own path in journalism, a career that has only grown since his high-profile departure from Fox News. As tributes pour in, Carlson’s audience awaits his return, offering condolences for his loss and appreciation for the legacy his father leaves behind, as reported by Trending Politics.
