(Crankers.com) Following a three death tragedy caused by an immigrant with a license to drive trucks in California, the Trump administration is now threatening funding to three key states for not enforcing the rules that require truckers to speak English.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said California, New Mexico, Washington risk losing millions in federal funding if they keep failing to uphold the requirements that require truckers to speak English. Under current rules, the truckers are supposed to be disqualified from acquiring a license if they cannot demonstrate proficiency in English.
Duffy continued on his quest by saying the man responsible for the illegal U-turn should’ve never been given a CDL license because of his immigration status, but someone in California let it slide and could be considered somewhat responsible for what happened.
AP’s news report showed that the discussion revolving around the illegal U-turn turned deadly became a political topic centered on immigration, but Duffy reminded people that this is strictly about safety.
Duffy cited thousands of examples on how the states mentioned are breaking the rules and that it could lead to even more fatal accidents.
