(Crankers) President Donald Trump is calling for criminal charges under the RICO Act—a federal law typically used to target organized criminal enterprises—against George Soros and his son, Alexander (“Alex”) Soros. Trump alleges they supported violent protests across the United States and are part of a broader effort to use their influence for disruptive ends.

Trump said on Truth Socials: “George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America.”

Trump said more: ““We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to ‘BREATHE,’ and be FREE. Soros, and his group of psychopaths, have caused great damage to our Country! That includes his Crazy, West Coast friends. Be careful, we’re watching you! Thank you for your attention to this matter!” (The Hill )

What is the Federal RICO law?

Federal RICO law refers to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), a U.S. federal law enacted in 1970 as part of the Organized Crime Control Act. Its purpose is to combat organized crime, but it has since been used more broadly to target ongoing criminal enterprises of many kinds — from mob families to corrupt businesses and street gangs.

Trump needs to provide evidence of this to get any charges to stick. For example, a money trail could suffice, but it may be a difficult task to prove which dollars went where, and how they were used.

Billionaire George Soros has been vilified as an enemy of the GOP, often accused of using his money to promote Democrat politicians and district attorneys in their elections.
