(Crankers) One of President Donald Trump’s officials just randomly said screw it and resigned and I’m glad he’s out. From what I’m reading about this guy, he sounds like he had no experience being the head of anything, let alone FEMA.
His name is David Richardson and he was the acting head of FEMA. He resigned yesterday, but we didn’t find out until just now when it hit the newswires.
Richardson abruptly resigned after just six months in the role, ending a turbulent tenure marked by political pressure, public outrage, and a deadly summer disaster.
FEMA faced intense criticism during his leadership as President Donald Trump pushed deep budget cuts and suggested dismantling the agency after hurricane season.
Richardson drew heavy fire for his slow response to catastrophic July floods in Texas’ Hill Country that killed over 130 people, including 27 girls and counselors at Camp Mystic.
It later surfaced that he was on vacation during the holiday weekend and unreachable for a full day as the crisis unfolded.
With no prior emergency management experience, Richardson took over in May after the short-lived tenure of Cameron Hamilton. The White House referred all questions about his resignation to the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees FEMA.
Sounds like he had no idea what he was doing. The fact he was unreachable DURING AN EMERGENCY means he should not only resign, but never show his face in public again.
When you’re the head of FEMA, then you’re NOT ALLOWED to be unreachable during an emergency.
So yeah, I’m glad he resigned. Kick rocks, pal. Find someone who actually cares about the job.
