(Crankers) President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former National Security official Kash Patel to takeover the FBI. This could be Trump’s way of telling current FBI director Christopher Wray to pack his bags early, even though he’s not expected to leave for a few more years. Reuters reported on Trump’s nomination of Patel:
Patel, who during Trump’s first term advised both the director of national intelligence and the secretary of defense, has previously called for stripping the FBI of its intelligence-gathering role and purging its ranks of any employee who refuses to support Trump’s agenda.
“The biggest problem the FBI has had, has come out of its intel shops. I’d break that component out of it. I’d shut down the FBI Hoover building on day one and reopen it the next day as a museum of the deep state,” Patel said in a September interview on the conservative Shawn Ryan Show. And I’d take the 7,000 employees that work in that building and send them across America to chase down criminals. Go be cops. You’re cops. Go be cops.”

Isn’t Kash Patel a pretty controversial choice for FBI? I remember him from some of the Trump admin stories, but not sure if he’s got the right experience. What do you guys think? Frank, any insights on this?
yeah i heard bout kash too, seems like a risky move but then again that’s trump’s style i guess?
Actually, Kash has been in the middle of a lot of key situations. Might not be as unprepared as we think. Still, I’m skeptical about the implications for the FBI’s objectivity.

Not a grand conspiracy, an agenda. Trump intends to subvert the apparatus of the executive branch, law enforcement and the military to his desires. Revenge against the “enemy within” in his own words and saying he’s perfectly ok suspending the Constitutional rights of citizens if he deems it necessary, and his stated intention to declare a national emergency “day one”, and his past attempts to invoke the Insurrection Acts show you why he needs to preemptively insure those Govt functions that carry guns and enforce the law and protect the Constitution are led by partisans loyal only to him, he wants the US Govt to be like his own personal business employees, security force and army; at his command, without any checks or balances. You need to study Hitler and Victor Orbans rise to power. What Trump is doing is almost a cookie cutter of what those two dictators did. All thats needed is for Congress and the SCOTUS to lack the courage to stop him.
Patel’s nomination is a strong signal to the FBI and its direction under the Trump administration. Wray’s early departure message is clear, but how this will affect the FBI’s operations and public perception is another matter. Hopefully, Frank digs deeper into this.
That a President wants to send a strong signal to the FBI by putting a man whose allegiance is to him alone and who wants to dismantle and remake a stored institution in charge is chilling of itself.
