(Crankers) The political breakup no one expected just hit the GOP. Former President Donald Trump has officially cut ties with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of his loudest and most loyal defenders for years. And yes, it turned messy almost immediately.
Maybe this explains why MTG was begging for donations on social media like a true grifter. She’s wealthy from stock exchanges, makes a 6-figure salary, and yet she was still begging her followers for donations. Pathetic, if you ask me and anyone smarter than a rock, or Jasmine Crockett.
The split became public after Trump posted on Truth Social calling Greene a “ranting lunatic” and claiming she does nothing but “complain, complain, complain.” He also said her poll numbers for a potential Georgia Senate or governor run were terrible, around 12 percent according to him, and announced he would not endorse her for anything going forward. He even hinted he might support a primary challenger to replace her.
So what caused this sudden fracture after years of mutual support? A big part of it came down to the ongoing fight over the release of Jeffrey Epstein-related documents. Greene sided with a bipartisan group pressing for a vote to release more files. Trump and his allies have been resisting that push. Her decision put distance between them, and she doubled down repeatedly, publicly criticizing how the issue was being handled.
There were other cracks too. Greene has recently taken positions that didn’t line up perfectly with Trump’s agenda, criticizing elements of foreign policy, pushing her own priorities, and clashing with GOP leadership on spending and national-security issues. Inside the party, some said she seemed more interested in spotlight moments than sticking to a unified strategy.
Trump, meanwhile, has made it clear he expects strict loyalty, especially heading into the next election cycle. Once Greene stepped out of line, the relationship seems to have unraveled quickly.
Greene fired back online almost instantly. She accused Trump of spreading “lies” about her and said she didn’t serve him, she serves “God and the people of Georgia.” She also implied Trump was attacking her because she pushed for the Epstein file disclosures, saying he wanted to make an example out of her so other Republicans wouldn’t challenge him.
The whole exchange has created an unusually public rift inside the MAGA wing of the Republican Party. Greene was once considered one of Trump’s most devoted allies, regularly defending him in interviews, on social media, and inside Congress. Losing his endorsement removes a major political shield from her, especially with Trump-friendly challengers possibly waiting in the wings.
What happens next is unclear. Greene still has a strong following in her district, but Trump remains the dominating force in Republican primaries. If he backs a challenger, things could get complicated for her very quickly. And for Trump, the move sends a message: even longtime allies aren’t safe if they cross him on key issues.
