A squatter standoff was caught on video and it ended in an arrest. You may think that's great news, but it's not. The squatter should have been arrested, but instead – the landlord was arrested! It's like landlords don't have any rights anymore. You can have a total bum living in your place rent free and you can't even take your property back. What a disgrace! Here's what happened…

A woman named Adele Andaloro inherited a home from her family. She was in the process of selling the home, located in the Queens section of New York, when she ran into a big problem. Someone changed her front door and decided to live on the property – without anyone's permission, without paying rent, etc. This guy just ripped the door off, put on a new one, and claimed this place as his own. Basically, he broke in, and now the cops arrested the wrong person thanks to the awful laws in New York that say a squatter has rights after 30 days. In reality, a squatter should never have a single right at all. But of course, you may not see many common sense laws in places run by Democrats.

The woman got arrested for trying to unlawfully evict someone, which is ridiculous, because the guy literally BROKE IN – or, they entered without permission – but not much of a difference because they're there without permission – whether they broke in or not. Now she's scared that the guy or anyone he knows may end up stealing her property and she won't be able to sell her own property. Oh wait, it's at least two guys. She said they've been there since February and refuse to leave. They even called the cops on her! Well, she called the locksmith in return. She said by the time the town investigates it, they'll have been there for over 30 days – and that's when New York's terrible laws give the squatters some "rights" – which they should never have in the first place because they're squatters. Here’s where the story turns to complete BS:

“I may end up in handcuffs today if a man shows up here and says I have illegally evicted him,” said Andaloro. “I said ‘let him take me to court as I’ve been told to take him to court’ because today I’m not leaving my house.”

In New York, it’s against the law to turn off the utilities, change the locks, and remove the belongings of someone who claims to be a tenant.

Less than 10 minutes after police left and the locks were changed, the man who claimed to be the one actually leasing the house showed up with another man police already escorted off the property. They pushed through the front door.

“Do you see this this guy just literally broke down my door, broke through myself and my daughter,” Andaloro said.

Police showed up a second time and told Andaloro “he can’t be kicked out, you have to go to court.” They consider it to be a landlord-tenant issue and by law, it has to be handled through housing court and not with police.

Because Andaloro changed the locks, they arrested her for unlawful eviction.

Now the woman has no choice but to go to court, but she shouldn’t have to. Everyone knows that any law protecting squatters instead of the property owner is bogus and needs to be thrown out. There should never be a law protecting a squatter.
