(Crankers) The former White House press secretary for former President Donald Trump, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, has stated she will run for governor in Arkansas. Sanders called her decision to run for governor the “last line of defense” against what she called a “radical left” group of politicians.

The former press secretary appealed to Republicans by including mentions of socialism and the Second Amendment as part of her announcment. She said, “as governor, I will defend your right to be free of socialism and tyranny, your Second Amendment right to keep your family safe and your freedom of speech and religious liberty… Our state needs a leader with the courage to do what’s right, not what’s politically correct or convenient.”

Arkansas’ current Gov. Asa Hutchinson, will be leaving and cannot run for reelection because of term limits.

If elected, Huckabee Sanders would be the first female governor of Arkansas.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders has a video announcing her run for governor.

Huckabee Sanders took over for Sean Spicer back in 2017, after he resigned. She spent about 2 1/2 years as the White House press secretary, at times getting into heated discussions with members of the press. However, at one point she stopped doing briefings and there was a 94-day period in which no briefings were held.

At some point, Huckabee Sanders left the position and was replaced by a new White House press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, who stayed until former President Trump lost the 2020 election.

The latest press secretary is Jen Psaki, operating under current President Joe Biden.
