(Crankers) Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) has now called the pending Senate impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump as “stupid” and claims he will vote against it the first chance he gets.

Rubio made the statement while on Fox News Sunday, saying specifically , “I think the trial is stupid” and “we already have a flaming fire in this country. Rubio suggests that continuing with the Trump impeachment trial would be like throwing gas on the division already burning in America.

He followed that up by saying, “the first chance I get to vote to end this trial I’ll do it.”

Rubio also made another comment that impeaching Trump and convicting him in a Senate trial to prevent the former president from attaining future office is arrogant.

The Florida Senator made these comments when Chris Wallace asked him about impeaching a president to prevent him from seeking public office again, and Rubio’s answer appeared to stump Wallace.

Rubio said it was “an arrogant statement for anyone to make” and followed it up by saying, “voters get to decide that. Who are we to tell voters who they can vote for in the future?”

Trump’s impeachment trial is slated to begin on Feb 8. If Trump is convicted, then he will be disqualified for running for president in the future.
