Rockstar takes this one on the chin, apologizes for disastrous release of GTA Trilogy

(Crankers) The new release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has gotten quite a few complaints and Rockstar Games has apologized for the mess they made.

GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas were remastered to provide fans of the series a means to relive memories of the older games with improved visuals. Many gamers reported a growing list of issues, earning the Trilogy dismal Metacritic user rating. Some fans requested refunds as well.

Rockstar apologized for the way the game turned out in a statement posted on Friday.

The publisher stated that the updated versions of these iconic games did not debut in a state that satisfies the company’s own standards of quality, or the standards their fans have grown to expect.

Rockstar also announced that customers who bought the PC remaster would be able to download the classic versions of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas for free via the Rockstar Store, as they had previously been removed.

One of the most common frustrations among players is the perplexing visual alterations. It’s assumed that AI software was utilized to create better-looking graphics, and while it did improve some visuals, it also resulted in some odd-looking characters.

The game’s visuals aren’t the only ones with glitches. There are holes in the ground where players and vehicles can get caught, non-playable people interrupting cut-scenes, and weird collision dynamics in all three games. There’s also a disorienting rain effect that makes it difficult to view the game itself.

Rockstar is just wasting people’s time with this release and should be focused on the next new GTA.
