Republican ‘Red Wave’ fizzled and failed, Trump allegedly fuming: report

(Crankers) Although former President Donald Trump is still not ruling out an announcement about a 2024 presidential campaign, he is reportedly fuming over the Republican Party’s failure to produce a red wave. In the midterm elections, the twice-impeached former president’s hand-picked GOP candidates largely flopped, and Democrats still have an outside shot at maintaining congressional majorities in both chambers.

Jim Acosta from CNN said that leaves Trump and his inner circle pointing fingers at one another. Raw Story reported on what Jim Acosta reported: “’Trump is livid’ and ‘screaming at everyone,’ after last night’s disappointing midterm results for GOP, according to a Trump adviser.”

“The adviser went on to slam the former president’s handpicked contenders: ‘they were all bad candidates.’ ‘Candidates matter,’ the adviser said,” Acosta added.

Reportedly, ahead of the midterms, Trump was considering to announce a presidential run, but the election results muddle the timeline for entering the 2024 race, sources say. “This adviser said it’s unlikely Trump would delay his expected presidential announcement because ‘it’s too humiliating to delay,'” reported Acosta.

“But the adviser said there are too many unknowns at this point,” he concluded.

Republican leader Kevin McCarthy’s grasp on the speakership appears potentially tenuous as rebellious far-right members could wield enough clout to eject him, even though Republicans are still in position to take over the House of Representatives, CBS News’ Robert Costa reports.

“Haven’t seen this level of anxiety and loathing since late 2015 as Trump ascended,” tweeted Costa.”Widespread consensus that McCarthy still in a position to be Speaker if Rs win House. But his allies now wonder: at what cost? With what kind of power?” he added, said Raw Story.

As the most likely potential challenger to McCarthy should Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and other Trump-loving lawmakers decide to stage a coup, Costa listed Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), although he noted Scalise has little appetite to initiate such a fight.

“One reason Scalise and others don’t want to mix it up with McCarthy, I’m told, is that McCarthy was chief recruiter for 2010 wave,” Costa reported.

“He is leader now. Remains main recruiter. To go at McCarthy, it’s not about toppling him but untangling a decade of cultivated relationships with House Rs,” he added.
