This is big, if true! And keep in mind, this is the reporter's story and we're just reporting on it. 🙂 A fired CBS News reporter is now speaking out. Her name is Catherine Herridge and she was a CBS News investigative journalist. She became quite popular when she was working on the Hunter Biden laptop stories, but things became a bit murky and she ended up fired. She's now speaking out about what happened, telling her side of the story and what she believes in.

Herridge was fired back in February, but is now going after CBS News and claiming they locked her out, took her files, and claimed she was trying to expose government corruption. Well, wouldn't that be a good thing? After all, she is an investigative reporter and if the government does something corrupt, it's literally her job to expose it for all of America to see. It doesn't matter if the people in the White House are Republicans or Democrats, it's the job of an investigative reporter to INVESTIGATE and REPORT what they find. But here we are with her getting fired over things that many would believe is questionable at the least. NY Post reported on the Herridge story :

“CBS News’ decision to seize my reporting records crossed a red line that I believe should never be crossed by any media organization,” she said in her opening statement at the hearing, titled “Fighting for a Free Press: Protecting Journalists and their Sources,”

“Multiple sources said they were concerned that by working with me to expose government corruption and misconduct they would be identified and exposed.”

Perhaps Herridge didn’t want anyone on the inside to be exposed, because if that happens, then they couldn’t be handing out information anymore. NY Post’s report continues:

Herridge — who is in the middle of a First Amendment case being closely watched by journalists nationwide — was among 20 CBS News staffers let go as part of a larger purge of 800 employees by Paramount.

“CBS News locked me out of the building and seized hundreds of pages of my reporting files, including confidential source information,” Herridge testified.

“I pushed back, and with the public support of my union, SAG-AFTRA, the records were returned.”

CBS said no one went through her files or documents. I think it’s probably standard to lock people out of a building after they’ve been fired. It’s not like she was working at Walmart and was going shopping. Herridge was part of a major news network, so once you’re no longer working there, it actually makes sense to keep them out of the building. However, their work SHOULD be given back to them – in my opinion. CBS News eventually returned the files and documents to Herridge, but what took so long? I don’t know. Maybe CBS should answer that question.
