(Crankers) Peanut the Squirrel’s owners are out for justice following a raid that ended up with two of their pets being murdered euthanized by the state of New York. The owners, Mark Longo and Daniela Bittner are preparing to sue in hopes of justice and they believe they’ve got a case. TMZ reported on the details of the intent to sue, saying the following:

Mark Longo and Daniela Bittner filed a notice of their intention to make a claim against the government for the death of Peanut and their raccoon, Fred … alleging unlawful search and seizure, violation of freedom of speech, and other due process violations.

Longo and Bittner say the incident was the result of negligence, carelessness, and recklessness by the state of NY and its agents … saying they may have violated due process laws by not revealing to a judge their intention to kill the animals after raiding Longo and Bittner’s home.

The story of Peanut the Squirrel took the internet by storm. Peanut was a viral sensation on social media with the owners posting videos of the not-so-normal pet. However, the state of New York has some rules that say you can’t have certain animals as pets, such as squirrels and racoons, which they both had. The state of New York swept in, took the animals, and killed both of them, causing an uproar across the country.

Collin Rugg reported on the impending lawsuit too, saying the following and posting the video from Peanut’s owners:

Peanut the Squirrel’s owners to sue the state of New York for executing Peanut and their pet raccoon, Fred. Mark Longo says justice is coming and he is ready to take on the state of New York. Longo and his partner Daniela Bittner filed a notice, stating their intention to make a claim against the government.

Longo and Bittner are accusing New York of unlawful search and seizure, violation of freedom of speech, and other violations. They also say that their pets were legal companion animals and not wild animals like the government claimed. They are also suing for emotional distress, violations of their constitutional rights, as well as lost wages.
