(Crankers.com) Microsoft fired four workers who staged a sit-in protest at the company’s headquarters in Washington. At least two pf the protesters did the sit-down protest in Brad Smith’s office. Smith is president of Microsoft.
The disruption was over Microsoft’s alleged ties to Israel and had nothing to do about employee benefits, salary, or anything work-related.
Microsoft fired the workers because their actions breached company policies and, according to Reuters, “created significant safety concerns” on the premises.
A group called No Azure for Apartheid is demanding Microsoft to end any ties with Israel and also pay reparations to Palestinians.
The report further said at least seven protesters were arrested after allegedly breaking into Brad Smith’s office, but only two of them were current Microsoft employees. The other five were previous employees or just random people.
Smith suggested that Microsoft believes in freedom of speech and protest, but when done legally.
