McConnell calls $2,000 stimulus checks ‘socialism for rich people’ – blocks them again

(Crankers) Mitch McConnell does it again. The Senate Majority Leader has blocked a quick vote on $2,000 stimulus checks and also referred to them as “socialism for rich people” in another strike down of the request by President Trump and numerous Democratic supporters.

McConnell blocked the quick vote on the Senate floor and clashed with Democrat Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer.

McConnell stated on the Senate floor, that “the data show that many upper-middle class Americans have kept their jobs, work remotely and remain totally financially comfortable. On the other hand, some of our fellow citizens have had their entire existences is turned upside down and continue to suffer terribly. We do not need to let the speaker of the House do socialism for rich people in order to help those who need help.”

Despite shutting down the request for a quick vote on the $2,000 checks, McConnell has brought forth his own way to give Americans the higher checks, but it comes at a cost. McConnell tied the checks with two other demands. One of them was to investigate election security, and the other was repealing Section 230 and the liability protections that online platforms like social media have.

Chuck Schumer suggests that McConnell is “just trying to stall to prevent the checks from being passed,” also suggesting that tying the checks to other demands would make it difficult to become law, per a report on Fox News.

Meanwhile, $600 checks have begun to roll out via direct deposit to those who qualify.
