(Crankers.com) A math teacher was fired and faces a felony charge after he allegedly threatened to shoot students if he had a gun.
The teacher, Jerry Meitin, 62, worked at Lakeside High School in the Columbia County School District, and had allegedly made the comment in front of a group of students.
Following an investigation, and a warrant, it was deemed that the teacher’s comments were made “in reckless disregard of the risk of causing the terror.”
Principal Juliet King confirmed that the threats were made during class and issued a statement to parents:
“The teacher is no longer employed by the Columbia County School District and will be held accountable according to the law… Additionally, the incident will be reported to the Professional Standards Commission for further investigation.”
