(Crankers) Christopher Wray plans to resign as the FBI director, paving the way for Kash Patel if Donald Trump makes it official. Kash Patel responded, saying “We look forward to a very smooth transition at the FBI, and I’ll be ready to go on day one.”

When will Christopher Wray resign? A report on Yahoo News said the following: ”

FBI Director Christopher Wray plans to resign next month at the end of President Joe Biden’s term, a decision he made public two days after a key Senate Republican called for his departure and after President-elect Donald Trump kept a steady drumbeat of support for a replacement in the next administration.

“After weeks of careful thought, I’ve decided the right thing for the Bureau is for me to serve until the end of the current administration in January and then step down,” Wray, 57, told FBI employees on Wednesday, according to a statement from the bureau.”

Who is Kash Patel? He is an American lawyer and former federal prosecutor who has held several significant roles in government. He served as Chief of Staff to the Acting Secretary of Defense and as a Senior Advisor to the Acting Director of National Intelligence during Donald Trump’s first term. Patel was also a senior aide to Congressman Devin Nunes and played a key role in the investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Recently, in November 2024, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Patel to be the next Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), succeeding Christopher Wray. This nomination has been controversial, with critics arguing that Patel lacks the qualifications and experience necessary for the role

Who is Christopher Wray? He is the eighth and current Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), having been nominated by President Donald Trump and confirmed by the Senate on July 30, 2017. Born on December 17, 1966, in New York City, Wray graduated from Yale University and Yale Law School.

Wray has had a long career in law enforcement and public service. Before becoming FBI Director, he served as Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Criminal Division under President George W. Bush from 2003 to 2005. He also worked as a litigation partner at the law firm King & Spalding from 2005 to 2016.

As FBI Director, Wray has overseen several high-profile investigations, including those related to Russian interference in the 2016 election and the recovery of classified documents from Mar-a-Lago. Recently, he announced his resignation, effective at the end of President Joe Biden’s term in January 2025, amid pressure from President-elect Donald Trump
