(Crankers.com) Due to Unilever telling the famous ice cream brand to calm down on the wokeness and political issues, Jerry has decided to leave.
“It’s with a broken heart that I’ve decided I can no longer, in good conscience, and after 47 years, remain an employee of Ben & Jerry’s.” Wrote Jerry Greenfield, the co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream brand, on his X account.
Greenfield’s political and activist values clashed with the parent company, Unilever. The first clashes started in 2021, when Ben & Jerry’s said they would stop selling ice cream in the Israeli-occupied West Bank as a response to the conflict in Gaza.
“It’s profoundly disappointing to come to the conclusion that independence, the very basis of our sale to Unilever, is gone.” Wrote Greenfield.
