(Crankers) Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey appointed Giselle Byrd, a biological male who identifies as female, as a state commissioner to the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW). Byrd was subsequently elected by fellow commissioners to serve as the Vice Chair of the MCSW’s Programming and Planning Committee.
So basically, they hired a male to speak for women, instead of selecting an actual woman. You really can’t make this stuff up.
Byrd, a black transgender woman, made history with this appointment as the first transgender woman of color to serve on the commission. He is also the Executive Director of The Theater Offensive, a Boston-based organization presenting art by and for queer and trans people of color, making him the first Black trans woman to lead a regional theater company in the United States.
The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women advises executive and legislative bodies on the effects of proposed legislation on women, promotes collaboration among women’s groups, and assesses state agency programs as they affect women.
Well if that’s what they do, then why did they pick a man dressed up as a woman to represent them? Why not go for the full woman?
