Former NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio endorses socialist Zohran Mamdani

By Frank BojaziSeptember 2, 2025Updated:September 2, 2025 News

(Crankers.com) Socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani received an endorsement from Bill de Blasio.

The former mayor said during an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe: “This guy’s an old soul. I have to say that chronological age is one thing, but I truly find him to be particularly perceptive, intelligent, open… Rarely have I met someone in public life who listens so well, and I think that’s crucial.”

But people on the other side of politics believe a socialist candidate becoming mayor of NYC could lead to an exodus where successful people move out of the city, going to places that would be more prosperous for them, as they would not want to live under any form of socialism that would strain the taxpayers. New York City is already expensive, so the critics are not interested in anything that could make that worse.

Mamdani also has ties to defunding the police, which if that takes place in NYC, could cause a crime wave that would get out of control. Crime is already bad in NYC, so residents might feel safer with more police on the streets – not less.

One critic, Katie Miller, said during a Fox News interview that if Mamdani becomes mayor, then it would cause the “fastest downfall” to a national party.”

Other critics are already comparing Mamdani to failed Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, who’s been named “America’s Worst Mayor” – even after Lori Lightfoot. The critics believe Mamdani could perform worse than Mayor Johnson. And for example, Chicago just experienced a Labor Day weekend with 58 people being shot, and eight homicides across 37 different incidents.

Mamdani was also mocked for being unable to bench press 135lbs without help. One person said “we don’t need a weakling running New York City.”

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and current Mayor Eric Adams are also running for mayor of New York City.

Eric Adams called the socialist candidate ‘Mamscrawny’ after seeing the video of him struggling to lift light weights.
