(Crankers) Senator Elizabeth Warren has sharply criticized the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, over what she describes as “alarming failures” in protecting sensitive national security information. In a letter co-signed with Representative Gerry Connolly, Warren expressed concerns that DOGE employees may have shared classified government information using insecure communications channels, potentially exposing secrets about America’s defense and intelligence agencies.

Warren’s criticism extends to DOGE’s handling of personal and taxpayer data. She highlighted reports that the White House is pressuring the IRS to grant DOGE software engineers broad access to IRS systems, property, and datasets, including private tax return information of millions of Americans and businesses. Warren questioned the legality of such access and the safeguards in place to protect taxpayer information, said Elizabeth Warren’s website .

The senator’s concerns are part of a broader investigation into DOGE’s activities, with watchdog agencies reviewing its actions at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Democratic lawmakers, including Warren, have raised alarms about DOGE’s efforts to dismantle the CFPB, citing mass firings and disruptions that may have compromised the agency’s ability to protect consumers, reported Reuters.

Warren is now eating crow over and facing scrutiny over her campaign’s acceptance of $822,573 from individuals affiliated with the pharmaceutical and health products industries. This figure places her among the top recipients of such donations, second only to Senator Bernie Sanders.

While Warren has publicly pledged to reject corporate PAC money and donations from executives in certain sectors, including pharmaceuticals, the contributions in question were made by individuals and PACs connected to the industry, not directly from the companies themselves.

In response to criticism, Warren has emphasized her commitment to transparency and accountability in campaign finance. She has stated that she does not accept contributions from corporate PACs or executives in sectors she has criticized, such as the pharmaceutical industry.

The acceptance of these donations has raised questions about the influence of industry money in politics and the effectiveness of self-imposed fundraising restrictions. Critics argue that such contributions undermine efforts to reduce corporate influence in policymaking, while supporters contend that individual donations do not equate to corporate influence.

As Warren continues to advocate for campaign finance reform, the scrutiny over these donations highlights the ongoing debate over the role of money in politics and the challenges of maintaining ethical fundraising practices. In fact, a lot of people want her investigated more thoroughly.
