(Crankers) An illegal immigrant who was deported three times is suspected of terrorizing women and girls along a popular Virginia walking trail for several months. In a series of at least 22 separate incidents since July, Juan Rodriguez Alfaro is suspected of assaulting and using violence against women and girls along the Washington and Old Dominion Trail (W&OD). He was also being sought in New York for an attack on a jogger who is the wife of a law enforcement officer, said WUSA9.

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spokesperson told FOX 5 DC that Rodriguez is an illegal immigrant from Honduras who has been deported three times already. In addition to the eight cases in Herndon linked to Rodriguez Alfaro, Fairfax County Police Lieutenant Ryan Lazisky found 13 other cases of indecent exposure in Fairfax County. Lazisky noted that Rodriguez had an extensive arrest record and stated, “There was no rape in these cases, but he did assault victims.”

Referring to an attack that occurred on August 26, Herndon Police Chief Maggie DeBoard declared: “That subject exposed himself and was engaging in obscene behaviors and grabbed the victim’s genitals before fleeing the area.”

According to Corso, investigators suspected Rodriguez Alfaro was residing in Suffolk County during that time, but then fled. Prior to being linked to the attacks that began in July, Rodriguez Alfaro was living with an associate in Herndon, Virginia. A warrant for attempted horrendous crimes against women was outstanding for an alleged attack in Suffolk County, New York, against the accused serial predator, according to The Blaze.

In October 2021, Rodriquez Alfaro was accused of assaulting a jogger in Suffolk County, according to a U.S. Marshals Service spokesperson. The jogger who was able to fight him off and escape was married to a member of law enforcement. During the attack, Rodriguez Alfaro was reportedly almost naked, with only a tank top on.

Rodriguez Alfaro is believed to have fled the area following the attack, according to Suffolk County Police Detective Tom Corso. He was allegedly present in Maryland and Boston, before going to Virginia. No bond has been set for Rodriguez Alfaro, who is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency filed a complaint with Fairfax County to alert them if Rodriguez Alfaro was released. Fox 5 DC stated, “The agency says it has lodged a detainer with Fairfax County so ICE would be alerted in the event Rodriguez Alfaro would be released. Fairfax County has adopted policies of not cooperating with ICE.”

During his incarceration in Virginia, Rodriguez Alfaro will be charged with an attempted crime while awaiting extradition to New York. “This is a good success story where we’re collaborating with federal partners as well as our neighboring jurisdictions,” Chief Kevin Lazisky said.

“We know that we were all out there on the trail, handing out flyers, canvassing, talking to the community. It feels good to be able to say you can feel safe again walking that path,” he added.
