(Crankers) The French government has categorically denied allegations circulating on social media that President Emmanuel Macron was concealing a bag of cocaine during a recent train journey to Kyiv. The rumors, originating from pro-Russian sources, falsely claim that Macron, along with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, were involved in drug use during their diplomatic mission to Ukraine.

The controversy stems from a video showing President Macron picking up a white object from a table while seated with Starmer and Merz. Conspiracy theorists have misrepresented this object as a bag of cocaine. However, the Élysée Palace clarified that the item was merely a tissue, dismissing the allegations as baseless disinformation aimed at undermining European unity.

The French presidency emphasized that such misinformation campaigns are part of a broader strategy by adversaries to disrupt international solidarity, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The government has called for increased vigilance against the spread of fake news and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ukraine in its efforts to achieve peace, said reports .

This incident highlights the challenges posed by disinformation in the digital age, especially when it targets high-profile political figures and international diplomatic efforts. The French government continues to monitor and counteract such false narratives to maintain the integrity of its foreign relations and public discourse.
