(Crankers) Chris Pratt has spoken out once again, this time turning heads when it comes to politics. Joining a list of celebrities who will be supporting moderate Democrat Rick Caruso developer at the polls, Chris Pratt has thrown his support behind the billionaire in the Los Angeles race for mayor.

The 43-year-old actor wrote on Instagram that the Republican-turned-Democrat is more equipped than Joe Biden-endorsed candidate, Congresswoman Karen Bass, to stop the city’s “gradual decline.” “I’ve lived in LA for over 20 years. It’s been great to me. In that time I’ve seen what many residents here have seen, the city’s gradual decline into pain and utter disarray,” wrote Pratt in his Instagram story, according to NY Post . “If you live here, you know exactly what I’m talking about,” the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star added.

Pratt also noted that he normally remains nonpartisan and does not publicly support political candidates. His father-in-law is former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Pratt then continued: “But in this election, there’s too much to lose.” “If you’re an LA voter, I urge you to vote for @rickcarusola. He’s a builder. He knows how to get s*** done. He’s the guy for our city. Rick Caruso for LA Mayor,” Pratt finished.

Congresswoman Bass, who is in her sixth term representing the 37th Congressional District, will be going against Caruso, who is a former president of the Los Angeles Police Commission.

Mayor Eric Garcetti, a Democrat first elected in 2013 and re-elected in 2017, is the one both Bass and Caruso are looking to replace.

Maria Shriver, who is Pratt’s mother-in-law, also expressed support for Caruso on social media.

“If you want Los Angeles to be different than it is today, the choice is clear with @RickCarusoLA,” Shriver wrote on Twitter.

“This race is super tight and every vote matters. If you want Los Angeles to be different than it is today, the choice is clear with @RickCarusoLA. Change is critical to the city’s future. It’s up to us – let’s go! https://t.co/bJ9GSHxhVi” wrote Shriver on November 4.

In June, Elon Musk, the newly appointed Twitter CEO, also tweeted about Caruso: “Los Angeles is fortunate to have someone like Rick Caruso running for mayor. He’s awesome.”

According to a report earlier this year from Variety, Caruso has gained wide support among Hollywood elites largely because of his own personal relationships.

His neighbor and longtime friend, celebrity Gwyneth Paltrow, hosted fundraisers on his behalf. Others like music mogul Scooter Braun, Snoop Dogg, Katy Perry, and Kim Kardashian have all publicized their support for Caruso.

Kardashian, who lives in Calabasas, a city with its own mayor, took to Instagram in May to vocalize her support for the billionaire, urging her followers in a video to “use their power” to vote.

“I recently met with Rick Caruso, who is running for mayor in Los Angeles, and I don’t typically endorse anyone in politics,” said the reality star.

“When it comes to my hometown and there’s people that can really make a difference, I think that he really can help with the crime in our city, which is such a big issue,” Kardashian added.

Also in May, the famous rapper Snoop Dogg gave his support to Caruso during a Zoom call. The call was later shared by Fox LA, and Snoop noted: “This is what a mayor has to be about!”
