White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany targets the press during a briefing and asked them why they aren’t talking as much, or asking about, the historic peace deal that President Donald Trump announced between the Arab nations of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain and Israel.
This happened when she was asked about something personal towards the closure of the briefing where McEnany declined to comment on her personal life. Instead, she slammed the press on why they didn’t ask about the peace deal, suggesting that the peace deal was rather important and she was in disbelief that no one from the media, who was present, would bother to ask her about it, per a report on the Daily Wire.
McEnany specifically stated to the media, regarding the peace deal, that she “did not receive a single question about.”
She continued by making a reference to the peace treaty signed back in 1994, between Israel and Jordan, saying “that was the first time it’s happened in a quarter of a century… If Obama and Biden had achieved this, it would look a lot different. You wouldn’t have Chuck Todd saying he’s ‘uncomfortable’ with the deal that brings peace between the United Arab Emirates and Israel and Bahrain; you wouldn’t have CBS calling it a ‘business deal,’ and you wouldn’t have Nancy Pelosi calling it a ‘distraction.’ Maybe it’s a distraction from her visits to the hair salon, but those were significant agreements. First time in a quarter of a century; three peace deals in 29 days; it took 26 years for the prior two peace deals.”
McEnany’s briefing is here and you can watch it in full or skip towards the end where she slams the press.
It should be noted that President Donald Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump was nominated by member of the Norwegian Parliament named Christian Tybring-Gjedde, who did this on his own in regards to Trump’s work with the current peace deal that was reached.
McEnany on the other hand, has had many firm questions for the press, often calling out or suggesting a level of hypocrisy that looms, specifically towards Trump, and less towards Democratic figures in general.
There have also been times where McEnany has clashed with individual reporters.
