Governor Kristi Noem is on Fox News responding to the backlash from part of her memoir that describes when she had to put down a dog that was “extremely dangerous” and a threat to her children and others. Noem said during her appearance with Sean Hannity that “it was a dog that was extremely dangerous,…It had come to us from a family who had found her way too aggressive. We were her second chance. And she was — the day she was put down was a day that she massacred livestock that were part of our neighbors… She attacked me. And it was a hard decision.”
I haven’t read her book, or any book in years for that matter. I won’t read her book, but I’ll take her word for it – but I also have to question this. Was there something else she could have done? Could she have put the dog up for adoption? If so, they may have put the dog down as well considering it’s aggressive history. It’s a shame, because we all love dogs, but if there’s a dog with a violent history or aggressive nature, then what’s the right course of action? I have no idea, but I do know this – maybe Kristi Noem should have left that part of her story OUT of the book. She’s in hot water right now and that’s NOT a good thing for her.
