Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) made a statement that she will object to the certification of Joe Biden’s electoral college victory in the 2020 election. Loeffler posted the following message in a statement and she also mentioned this while on stage with President Donald Trump during an event leading up to the Georgia runoff election.
Loeffler made an announcement on her Twitter page about her planned objection. Her post showed a screenshot of her statement. The official statement was posted on Senate.gov and stated the following:
The American people deserve a platform in Congress, permitted under the Constitution, to have election issues presented so that they can be addressed. That’s why, on January 6th, I will vote to give President Trump and the American people the fair hearing they deserve and support the objection to the Electoral College certification process. I have also already introduced legislation to establish a commission to investigate election irregularities and recommend election integrity measures, which I will be working to get passed in the Senate. We must restore trust, confidence and integrity in our election system.
The video of Loeffler making this statement in person, while on stage with President Donald Trump can be seen here:
Sen. Loeffler is part of today’s runoff election in Georgia. She and fellow Republican David Perdue are up against Democrats Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.
The polls opened at 7am this morning and they close at 7pm Eastern.
The winners of the Georgia runoff election can determine who takes the Senate.
The results of the Georgia runoff election will likely not be revealed in time for the January 6 certification of Joe Biden’s electoral college victory.
Protesters have planned an event in Washington, DC, for the day, in opposition to Joe Biden.
