Lesley Stahl was talking about how she feels dark about the future of the media. This conversation was about how the public is losing trust in the media. Part of the reason the public has lost trust in the media is because the media spends too much time looking for a high-ratings topic – even if it’s totally clickbait, partisan, or sensational.
The media would rather their talk show hosts get the audience excited instead of have accurate information. So when you’d watch these talk shows, you have to listen to what they say – then look it up to make sure they’re telling the full story. In a lot of cases, the host was either opinionated, one-sided, or purposely leaving out a small detail or two.
This helps them tell their audience what they want to hear, rather than what they should hear. The dramatic favoritism that gets displayed would typically have a higher audience. The more truthful reporting, journalism, or even talk show – would only tell the truth, and sometimes people don’t want that. Or, it’s boring. Watch Lesley Stahl talk about the lack of trust in the media.
