Missouri Republican Josh Hawley received bad news when finding out his scheduled fundraiser at a hotel has been canceled. Loews Hotels made an announcement on social media stating they are canceling Hawley’s event at the Orlando, Florida location after what took place at the United States Capitol where Hawley was seen raising a fist to pro-Trump protesters, some of whom might have participated in the breach.
Loews Hotels statement on social media said the following, “We are horrified and opposed to the events at the Capitol and all who supported and incited the actions. In light of those events and for the safety of our guests and team members, we have informed the host of the Feb. fundraiser that it will no longer be held at Loews Hotels.”
Hawley’s now canceled event was working in conjunction with a political action committee called Fighting for Missouri. The prices to attend the event were listed as $1,000 for an individual, $3,000 for a couple, and $5,000 for a family, as reported by KSDK.
The Missouri senator was criticized heavily for referring to protesters as “Antifa scumbags” after some activists gathered in front of his home and allegedly knocked on his door.
Hawley posted the following on social media, saying “Tonight while I was in Missouri, Antifa scumbags came to our place in DC and threatened my wife and newborn daughter, who can’t travel. They screamed threats, vandalized, and tried to pound open our door. Let me be clear: My family & I will not be intimidated by leftwing violence.”
It’s unclear if Hawley will reschedule the expensive fundraiser at another hotel.
