‘Gutfeld!’ panelists weigh in on the media’s interpretation of Florida’s parental rights bill.
WATCH:
Meanwhile, Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis says Disney ‘crossed the line’ for criticizing the parental rights bill that was officially signed into law.
Disney suggested they would support efforts to repeal the bill, officially known as the Parental Rights in Education bill, but it seems like Disney is merely posturing as they likely only care about profits if one thinks about the amount of money it costs for a family of four to spend one day in their theme park.
What does the bill say? In short, and as reported: “the Parental Rights in Education bill prohibits Florida educators from teaching about s-xual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through third grade, with a provision that enables parents to sue if they allege schools or instructors have been in violation. It is slated to go into effect on July 1.”
Disney responded: “Florida’s HB 1557, also known as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into law,” Disney said in a statement. “Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that. We are dedicated to standing up for the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ members of the Disney family, as well as the LGBTQ+ community in Florida and across the country.”
Analysis/opinion: The bill is to prevent far-left teachers from indoctrinating young students on inappropriate topics that are not relevant to their education at such a young age.
Many parents believe the bill is not strong enough and that it should ban teachers from discussing those topics up to high school, because if it’s not on the curriculum, then what are they talking about it for in the first place?
