The First Republican Primary Debate moderators are officially announced and people are already wondering if former President Donald Trump will get a fair shot after his recent interview. The moderators are Bret Baier And Martha MacCallum and the debate will take place on August 23. However, Trump was recently speaking with Baier and somewhat mocked Fox News by suggesting and implying that less people are watching the network since the shakeup with Tucker Carlson.
Fox News parted ways with famous host Tucker Carlson and that seems to have been a huge mistake for the network. Tucker Carlson was ramping up the views into the millions when he posted a few videos on Twitter, so it seems like people were fans of Tucker Carlson more than they were fans of Fox News in general.
When it comes to the Republican Primary Debates, it’s actually unclear if Donald Trump would even participate or be available if there’s any legal issues he’s dealing with. He may not participate, or he might. It’s probably too early to tell. He may be dealing with some of the indictment issues as well, so this is likely a day by day case for Trump.
As for who else would participate, there’s quite a handful of candidates ready to go such as Chris Christie, but he clearly has no chance to become president. In fact, many people are accusing Chris Christie of running for president only so he can try to grift donations from people and live off campaign money. Chris Christie is one of the politicians who’s hated on both sides of the political spectrum, so it’s very odd that he thinks he has a fighting chance to be president when he was steamrolled by Trump last time around.
Chris Christie is one of those politicians that everyone wishes would go away and he creeps up around election time – but no one really knows why because most people don’t like him anyway.
DeSantis vs Trump would be a fine debate, and perhaps Vivek Ramaswamy would state a case for himself, but Trump seems to be the Republican front-runner at the moment.
Deadline stated the following about the moderators:
Baier is Fox News’ chief political anchor and executive editor of Special Report with Bret Baier. MacCallum anchors and is executive editor of The Story with Martha MacCallum. Baier and MacCallum have co-anchored other Fox News special events coverage, including the midterms, and moderated a town hall with Trump at the Lincoln Memorial in 2020.
Fox Business Network will simulcast the debate, and there also will be coverage on Fox News Digital and Fox News Audio. Fox Nation will have a livestream for subscribers.
