(Crankers.com) The filming of the off-Broadway play “Lady Patriot” will reunite four stars from the 1977 comedy TV series ‘The Love Boat!’
Ted Lange, the actor of Love Boat’s bartender Isaac, is the one writing and directing Lady Patriot. It looks like his project has reunited him with his old colleagues.
On the September 9th premiere, Lange was accompanied by Love Boat’s famous Gopher (Fred Grandy), Doc (Bernie Kopell), and Vicki (Jill Whelan).
Whelan had stated that working with her old coworkers had greatly calmed her nerves for the role in the Lady Patriot play, which is based on a real historical event of a formerly enslaved black woman being used as a spy for the Union during the Civil War.
Even MacLeod, who died in 2021, is joining the play in spirit.
Whelan said that she will be wearing the earrings he bought with her period costume during the play. “Gavin MacLeod bought them for me. I thought, what a perfect homage to him!” Whelan said, stating that the earrings fit the 1860s time period.
Lange and the rest of the Love Boat cast have expressed love for the deceased actor.
Lady Patriot will have a limited run until September 20th.
